Azam completed Destroyed Fields on return from his visit to lake Saiful Malook, in response to the haunting beauty of the location at night-time and associations with the sublime poem written by the Sufi saint Mian Mohammad Bakhsh. The artist used segments from the poem to complete the composition.

 

Destroyed Fields was included in the Saiful Malook solo exhibition at London’s Saatchi Gallery in 2019.
